Spanish League News: When Florentino Perez appointed Jose Mourinho as the new manager ahead of the 2026-27 season, there were a number of concerns.
Despite his impressive track record over the years, the Portuguese coach’s career has been in decline for quite some time.
However, according to AS reports, Jose Mourinho’s appointment proved to be very successful, and the atmosphere at Valdebebas changed drastically in just two months.
The report mentions a phrase that is often said within the club: “The best signings are on the bench.” This sentence refers directly to the figure of Mourinho.
Mourinho arrived at Real Madrid for his second spell in office determined to change the habits, rules and procedures within the first team.
The main priority is to restore respect for the club’s crest, as well as rebuilding the internal standards of a squad that has appeared to lose bond and motivation over the last two seasons.
This means clear communication with players about what he expects from them, while those who are likely to leave soon are given the opportunity to change their situation.
The main point is that Mourinho does not simply impose authority. He tried to convince the squad through dialogue. This approach seems to pay off quickly.
The belief within Real Madrid is that Mourinho has managed to win the hearts of almost everyone in the team.
The squad showed greater commitment in training as well as stronger determination to continue fighting until the last minute of the match.
This spirit was clearly visible in Real Madrid’s first two La Liga matches against Espanyol and Real Sociedad, where the teams seemed to play shoulder to shoulder for each other.
Los Blancos always have top class talents. The question is whether this talent is able to work as a solid team with clear standards.
In the last few seasons, Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa failed to unite the group so they could support each other.
