Italian League News: Venezia has officially brought in young Barcelona talent, Toni Fernandez, for 4 million euros with an ownership scheme similar to Nico Paz’s transfer to Como.
In the midst of financial constraints and a thinning squad, the trend of big European clubs selling their young talents to smaller clubs in order to provide them with regular playing time is increasingly widespread, while increasing the sale value of these players in the future.
This pattern previously proved successful in the transfer of Nico Paz from Real Madrid to Como, and now Venezia hopes to repeat a similar success through an agreement with another La Liga giant, Barcelona.
Spanish media Sport previously reported that negotiations had entered an advanced stage, and now Marca and Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano confirm that a full agreement has been reached.
In the agreement, it is explained that Venezia will pay 4 million euros to get Toni Fernandez’s signature from the Catalan club, but will still retain 50 percent of the rights to future sales of the player.
Not only that, in the agreement there is also a buy-back clause to ensure the player’s future remains in their hands.
The Spanish U-18 national team talent just celebrated his 18th birthday last month, with the full name Antonio Fernandez Casino, and has been part of the Barcelona academy since 2018.
So far the player usually plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also be deployed as a center forward or right winger in a more attacking role.
