Italian League News: Ruben Amorim praised Goncalo Ramos after the Portuguese striker scored his first goal for AC Milan after wasting several golden opportunities.
The first home match of the season at the San Siro felt frustrating for the Rossoneri team in the first half, before finally substitutions again became the key to victory, as happened when they beat Torino 2-1.
This time it was Alexis Saelemaekers’ turn to change the course of the match with a counter-attack and a mature pass for Goncalo Ramos, before also creating a chance for Ardon Jashari which resulted in Redouane Halhal’s own goal.
In the press conference session after the match, coach Ruben Amorim praised the performance of Goncalo Ramos, who finally scored his first goal after a large investment from Paris Saint-Germain.
“Of course he’s a striker, we pay a lot because he scores goals, but the way he plays, works, links play, it means a lot.” said the coach from Portugal, to DAZN.
“Sometimes it looks like we have two men breaking through the defense, but it’s just Ramos. The way he didn’t score from the big chances before, he stayed calm for the third chance and was free to score.”
“It shows he’s an experienced player, he’s not thinking about missed opportunities, he’s thinking about the next opportunity.
“We need to improve the way we defend crosses in the box, and have to spend time practicing that. When we attack, the centre-backs have to think the game differently, it’s about preparing transitions.
