Volleyball News – The Indonesian Men’s National Volleyball Team managed to amaze volleyball fans by achieving a brilliant victory over Thailand in the 2026 AVC Men’s Volleyball Cup. The match which took place at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Ahmedabad, India on Tuesday (23/6/2026) evening presented a five-set drama that ended with a score of 3-2 (19-25, 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12) for Indonesia’s victory. Thanks to this result, the Indonesian national team rocketed to runner up position in the Group B standings, displacing the tough team, Qatar.
The additional two points from this dramatic victory improved Indonesia’s position in the standings, although with the same points, 5, as Qatar. The ratio of match details also determines the team’s ranking in this event. The top of the standings itself is still controlled by Thailand, but Indonesia has one match remaining against Oman which will determine their fate in qualifying for the semifinals.

The match started with Indonesia having to fight hard in the first set, trailing 19-25. The deadly trident of Farhan Halim, Boy Arnez Arabi and Fauzan Nibras had difficulty penetrating the Thai defense. However, instructions from karteker coach Reidel Toiran to play more freely paid off in the second set, which he won 25-19. This success boosted the team’s confidence and they continued to dictate the game, winning the third set with a score of 25-22.
Even though they were leading, the Indonesian national team was careless in the fourth set, so Thailand managed to equalize with a 23-25 win. The crucial fifth set was marked by high tension, but the Indonesian National Team was able to show calm and resilience. Indonesia’s superiority began to appear when a hard spike from a Thai player resulted in a point for Indonesia, followed by a block by Fauzan Nibras which put Indonesia ahead 11-9. Farhan Halim added points with a service ace, and with Boy Arnez’s brilliant contribution, Indonesia closed the fifth set with a score of 15-12, ensuring a dramatic and passionate victory for the Garuda squad.
