Volleyball News – The Indonesian U-18 Women’s National Volleyball Team managed to score a brilliant victory when they opened their journey in the 23rd Est Cola “Princess Cup” Southeast Asian U-18 Women’s Volleyball Championship, on Tuesday, 23 June 2026. Playing at a unique venue in the Terminal 21 Korat shopping center in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand, the Srikandi Merah Putih squad overcame the resistance of the Australian National Team with a perfect score of 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-19).
In this first Group A match, this victory was an important source of confidence for the young Indonesian troops before facing the next challenge against Hong Kong. On the other hand, Australia must prepare to face the hosts, Thailand, in their next match which falls on Wednesday, June 24 2026.
Bobby Ade Setiawan as Assistant Coach for the Indonesian U-18 Women’s National Volleyball Team, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s initial performance even though he acknowledged that there were still elements that needed to be evaluated. “The players started the tournament quite brilliantly. There were times when our team conceded points in a row, this was natural considering that many of them were experiencing the international atmosphere for the first time,” said Bobby.
Of the many young retainers, only Tina Aira and Venisa have previous track records in international competition. For the majority of other players, this is the first experience which certainly provides its own challenges.
Nevertheless, Bobby expressed his gratitude for this victory which he believes will inspire the team’s confidence in the next match. “Starting off with a win is a blessing, and this will definitely boost the morale of the athletes,” he added.
By defeating Australia, the Indonesian National Team occupies a strategic position in Group A, opening up wider opportunities to go far in the 2026 Princess Cup competition. (mad)
