Volleyball News – The Indonesian Women’s National Volleyball Team had to swallow a bitter pill when they faced Thailand in the prestigious tournament, AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship 2026. The match which took place on Monday, 24 August 2026, at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium, China, became really difficult for the Indonesian players when they were defeated with a landslide score of 0-3.
The fight started at exactly 14.00 WIB, when Marcos Sugiyama’s squad appeared with their best formation on the field. Big names such as Arsela Nuari, Chelsa Berliana Nurtomo, and Ersandrina Devega fill the list of main players. However, Thailand’s strong attacking line managed to suppress Indonesia from the first set, ending with a 16-25 lead for Thailand.
Even though the national team tried to recover in the second set, Thailand’s solid defense became a big wall for the opponent. Even though Chelsa Berliana showed a brilliant performance by scoring many points from in front of the net, it was still recognized that Indonesia’s efforts failed with an 18-25 defeat.
Entering the third set, Thailand’s strength became increasingly visible. Even though Marcos Sugiyama included several cover players to strengthen the squad, Thailand’s dominance remained unshakable. The match closed with a score of 15-25, forcing Indonesia to accept defeat and continue fighting for the next opportunity.
The national team must immediately evaluate their performance and strategy if they want to continue to perform well in this tournament, considering the enthusiasm and potential of the players are still very promising. Hopefully the next step can bring good news for Indonesian volleyball fans!
