Volleyball News –Thailand again showed its dominance over the Indonesian women’s national volleyball team in the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship. In the match which took place on Monday (24/8/2026) at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium, China, the Indonesian squad had to recognize Thailand’s superiority with the final result 0-3 (16-25, 18-25, 15-25).

The fundamental weakness for Marcos Sugiyama’s team is the reception of the first ball or “reserve”. This challenge is faced by several opposite and outside hitters when facing the Thai-style floating serve which is known for being fast and straight. This especially made things difficult for Indonesia’s star player, Gendis Azzahra, so that Thailand won many crucial points through deadly serve aces.

The Indonesian national team fielded almost all of its main players to achieve victory, including Arsela Nuari, Chelsa Berliana Nurtomo, Ersandrina Devega, Maradanti Namira, Indah Guretno, and Gendis Azzahra with Arneta as setter. However, the first set was marred by huge pressure from Thailand, and despite a strong effort from Ersandrina DeVega, Indonesia had to settle for a score of 16-25.

In the second set, Indonesia tried hard to recover. Unfortunately, Thailand’s solid defense hampered attacks from Indonesia. Even though Chelsa showed an impressive performance in front of the net, this set ended in defeat 18-25.

The third set was the biggest challenge for Indonesia. Thailand, which was already two sets ahead, tightened the game even more. The substitute players who were introduced still had difficulty keeping up with Thailand’s game, and in the end Indonesia had to give up with a score of 15-25, closing the match overall with a score of 0-3 against the strength of the Thai players.
