Volleyball News – A tense match ended at the Jakarta International Velodrome, where Vietnam managed to emerge as champions in the SEA V Cup 2026 Leg 2. This five-set drama ended with Vietnam beating Thailand with a narrow score of 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-25, and 15-10), on Sunday night WIB.
At the start of the match, Thailand showed dominance by winning the first set 25-22. However, Vietnam did not remain silent. They responded with great determination in the second set, even though Thailand led 17-14. A neat move from Dinh Van Phuong and his colleagues succeeded in changing the position into a 25-23 victory for Vietnam.
Thailand experienced a decline in play in the third set, which Vietnam took advantage of through sharp attacks from Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, ensuring a 25-19 lead. Despite a comeback in the fourth set, when Napadet led the Thai team to a 25-15 victory, they were not strong enough to withstand Vietnam’s final attack.
A shrewd decision by Vietnam coach Federico Rampazzo to give Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and Duong Van Tien a rest in the fourth set paid dividends in the deciding set. Both performed solidly, ending the competition with a 15-10 win over Thailand.
Meanwhile, Indonesia showed its superiority by beating Cambodia in the race for third place. Thus, the final ranking of SEA V Cup 2026 Leg 2 is as follows:
- 1st place: Vietnam
- 2nd place: Thailand
- 3rd place: Indonesia
- Rank 4: Cambodia
This is an event full of emotions, showing the strength and struggle of each team, especially the brilliant performance of the Vietnam team who proved themselves to be the best in this tournament.
