Volleyball News: Indonesian Women’s National Volleyball Team Ready to Fight in the 2026 Asian Games
The 2026 Asian Games, which will be held from September 19 to October 4 in Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture, Japan, are ready to be a big stage for the Indonesian Women’s National Volleyball Team. Srikandi Merah Putih were confirmed to compete after the draw placed them in Pool A, along with host teams Japan and Nepal.
The journey of the Indonesian National Team is quite promising. After an impressive performance in the 2026 SEA V Cup, their world ranking has improved, now in 56th position with 65.41 points, according to the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Ranking. Even though they lost the last match against the Philippines with a score of 1-3, the team’s spirit remained high.
The 2026 SEA V Cup was a proving ground for Indonesia, where they managed to rank third. In the first leg, despite losing to Thailand and Vietnam, Indonesia managed to overcome the Philippines. Meanwhile, in the second leg, the initial victory against Vietnam was followed by defeats against Thailand and the Philippines in the battle for second place.
Now, a tough challenge awaits at the Asian Games. The Indonesian national team, which is being trained to penetrate the top 50 in the world, must face the strength of Japan, which is one of Asia’s elite teams, and balance the strength of Nepal. The battle in Pool A will be a real test for this coach’s squad. The match will be held at Okazaki Central Park General Gymnasium and Park Arena Komaki, Japan, from 16–22 September 2026.
Globally, Italy ranks first in the world with 461.17 points, followed by Brazil in second place with 403.61 points. At the Asian level, Thailand is the third best team after China and Japan, occupying 17th position globally.
Is the Indonesian Women’s National Volleyball Team ready to face tough opponents and make history at the 2026 Asian Games? Time will tell! (mad)
