Volleyball News – The second semifinal of the 2026 AVC Men’s Volleyball Cup which took place on Saturday night (27/6/2026) brought together the Indonesian Men’s Volleyball National Team and India, the host. This fierce battle was held at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Ahmedabad, and determined who would advance to the final with South Korea.
The Indonesian team under the direction of karteker coach, Reidel Toiran, continues to display the same composition of players as when they defeated Thailand and Oman previously. With Alfin Daniel Pratama in the setter position and Muhammad Reyhan as libero, the game was driven by outside hitters Farhan Halim and Boy Arnez, while Fauzan Nibras stood tall as the opposite. In the middle row, Hendra Kurniawan and Raden Gumilar were installed as the spearheads of the blockers.
The first half started and India quickly scored the first points. A series of deadly serves from the home side immediately put pressure on and put India ahead 0-3. Farhan Halim failed to add points for Indonesia when his spike was declared a failure, so the score increased to 0-4 and forced coach Toiran to ask for a time-out.
The match continued with high intensity, India led 0-5 before Fauzan Nibras finally reduced the deficit to 1-5. Even though Boy Arnez was successful in adding points with his hard spike, various mistakes and failed serves made it difficult for Indonesia to catch up. The score widened to 7-12.
The situation became more pressing when India reached a 7-13 lead. The coach again appealed to the players to calm themselves in the face of the roaring pressure from the home fans. Even so, India continued to gain point after point until the gap became even further with a score of 10-20.
Indonesia continued to struggle to catch up by stealing several points, but the dominance and continuous attacks from the Indian team could not be stopped. Match point for India finally came at 24-15, before a hard spike from the Indian players closed the first set at 15-25.
Indeed, the lively atmosphere of the match and full of cheers from the audience provided its own challenge for the Indonesian squad that night, even though the struggle continued until the end of the set.
