Volleyball News –The Indonesian women’s national volleyball team has just given a stunning performance in the final match of the Group B preliminary phase at the 2026 AVC Continental Women’s Volleyball Championship. Competing at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium, China, Wednesday (26/8/2026), Marcos Sugiyama’s squad managed to lock in a straight two-set victory over Australia, ensuring their place in the last eight.
In the first set, a row of Indonesian players led by coach Marcos Sugiyama did not give Australia room to develop. Core players such as Ersandrina Devega, Arsela Nuari, and Mediol Yoku appeared full of enthusiasm, while a combination of spikes from Arsela and quick smashes from Rara, Maradanti Namira’s nickname, made the set end with a 25-18 lead for Indonesia.
The second set started with domination by Indonesia, who immediately took a 4-0 lead, thanks to impressive actions from Ersandrina, Medio, Chelsa Berliana and Arsela. Even though Australia narrowed it to 9-7 due to various mistakes, a timely time-out from Marcos Sugiyama restored momentum for Indonesia. A brilliant strategy including a quick smash from Rara ensured an unassailable lead with a final score of 25-17, after Arsel contributed the deciding point.
At the end of the match, Australia’s service error gave Indonesia the winning point. With this victory, the national team has the opportunity to face Iran, if they manage to win 3-0 or 3-1 in the next match in the preliminary round. Their struggle today shows that team spirit and strength are the keys to success in facing every match.
