Basketball News: EuroLeague shooter Cole Swider led the scoring by scoring 19 points for the USA Basketball National Team in an 89-71 win over Chile in the 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers for the Americas zone.
Swider’s 19 points came from 3-of-6 two-point shooting and 4-of-5 three-point shooting. He also added one free throw and recorded eight rebounds and two assists.
EuroLeague legend Mike James had 11 points, five rebounds and controlled their offense by collecting seven assists. James shot 4 of 5 and 2 of 3 from the free throw line.
Orlando Robinson II was another player who contributed greatly to Team USA’s victory by scoring 15 points and four *rebounds* in nearly 22 minutes of playing time.
Another EuroLeague player, Jaron Blossomgame, contributed nine points and four rebounds.
On the other hand, the Chile team was led by Sebastian Herrera who recorded 18 points, three *rebounds*, and one *assist*, and managed to hit 4 of 11 three-point shots.
Fabian Martinez contributed 15 points, while Felipe Haase recorded 13 *rebounds*—the most in the game—despite only scoring six points.
The win pushed Team USA Basketball into first place in Group E, as they overtook Brazil with both teams sharing a 6-1 record. However, Chile is currently in last place in the group with a 2-5 record and has little chance of qualifying for Qatar.
The USA Basketball National Team will face Colombia on September 1 in an attempt to stay at the top of their group. Meanwhile, Chile will face the Dominican Republic in their bid to climb higher in the standings.
