Volleyball News – The Indonesian Women’s National Volleyball Team is preparing with big ambitions to face the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship. Under the guidance of Marcos Sugiyama, the athletes are scheduled to compete from 21 to 30 August in Tianjin, China. This tournament is an important event where 40 strategic points can be won—more than the AVC Women’s Cup which only offers 30 points.
It’s not just a matter of earning points, placing in the top three will open up opportunities for Indonesia to advance to a more prestigious world championship. Imam Sudjarwo, General Chair of PP PBVSI, expressed optimism that the target of entering the top six could be achieved, inspired by the success of the men’s volleyball team which surprisingly won the 2026 AVC Cup.
“This success can be achieved if the players are solid and fight together with the Red and White spirit,” stressed Imam. He emphasized that playing mentality is as important as technique and physical fitness on the field, hoping that the Indonesian Women’s National Team will be able to never give up until the end of the match.
In the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship, Indonesia will compete in Pool B against Kazakhstan, Thailand and Australia. Even though the challenges faced are not easy, Imam Sudjarwo remains confident that the top six target can be achieved.
The Indonesian women’s squad this time is strengthened by 14 players selected by coach Sugiyama, including five extraordinary players such as Mediol Yoku and Azzahra Dwi Febynae in the outside hitter position. Meanwhile, the opposite positions are filled by Khanza Putri Yansi and Arsela Nuari. The setter part was entrusted to Arneta Putri and Shakira Ayu, followed by middle blockers Chelsea Berliana, Maradanti Namira, and Geofanny Eka. Indah Guretno and Fajriahni Ema Herawati will carry out duties as liberos.
This tournament is not only a place to compete for titles in Asia, but also opens the way to the 2028 Olympics and the 2027 Women’s Volleyball World Cup. With enthusiasm and determination, Indonesian volleyball heroines are ready to fight to show their best qualities on the international stage.
