Tennis News: Filipino tennis player Alexandra Eala wants to be remembered as the “best” person she could be when she stops playing tennis one day.
Of course, this moment is still far in the future, considering that the 21 year old tennis player has just started his career in the world of tennis.
The champion in Washington for the 2026 season is currently focused on the US Open, where she managed to advance to the second round after achieving a convincing victory over Mary Stoiana, whom she defeated with a convincing result 6-1, 6-2 at Louis Armstrong Stadium while ensuring a second round meeting against Oleksandra Olynykova.
However, before starting his latest Grand Slam campaign, he spoke openly about the huge support he has received and what he wants to achieve in his career.
Eala told Vogue, “At first, I was quite surprised because I couldn’t understand how Filipinos could feel so deeply or passionately about what I was doing.”
“It’s hard for me to really grasp the fact that I’m famous. I know what it takes to maintain my current position. I realize I can tell myself the harsh truth, if I don’t live up to my standards, I won’t stay here. So, all the love and support I receive doesn’t make me forget that.”
“All possibilities are wide open. I hope that when my career is over, I can look back and say, ‘Okay, that was the best version of myself’.”
That is a wise attitude that is always displayed by the young athlete who continues to show maturity beyond his years, both on and off the field.
World number 18 Eala can be proud of her opening match at the US Open this season, but now she will face another challenging test against Oliynykova. The two players have met once before with the Ukrainian winning their meeting in Strasbourg earlier this season. At that meeting, the world number 46 came from behind to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 last May.
Still trying to win her first title, the 25 year old tennis player, Oliynykova has now advanced to the second round of the US Open after beating the host tennis player, Reese Brantmeier, 6-4, 6-4.
