Damian Lillard is starting to show positive signs that he will return to action next season. After undergoing a long recovery from an Achilles injury, Lillard is now preparing to face the 2026-2027 NBA with burning enthusiasm.

The 36 year old player showed off his brilliant training results via social media. Lillard’s shooting accuracy is impressive, reaching 94.2 percent. From 1168 attempts, he successfully scored 1100 shots.

However, this impressive record does not fully reflect Lillard’s performance after being absent for one season. However, this is a positive signal for Lillard to prepare for his 14th season and return to strengthening the Blazers after two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Lillard’s post immediately caught the attention of his new teammate, Ja Morant. In a short but passionate response, the former Memphis Grizzlies player wrote, “This is going to be very interesting.”

The duo of Lillard and Morant is predicted to be one of the most anticipated backcourt combinations next season. Both are known to have the ability to score points and create extraordinary opportunities.

The last time Lillard played was on April 27, 2025. At that time, he was still playing for the Bucks in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs, before an Achilles injury forced him to step aside and the Bucks were stopped by the Indiana Pacers.

This injury is a heavy blow for Lillard, who previously had to be sidelined for a long time due to a blood clot in his calf. During that season, Lillard appeared in 58 games, averaging 24.9 points and 7.1 assists per game, and was selected as an All-Star for the ninth time.

In the midst of the recovery period, Lillard and the Bucks agreed to part ways. The Bucks released Lillard via a stretch provision scheme with a remaining contract worth US$103 million until 2030.

Lillard decided to return to Portland, the team he has played for for 12 years. He signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the Blazers, which includes a no-trade clause and an opt-out option after two seasons.

Despite not appearing in the regular season, Lillard showed signs of recovery by participating in the 2026 Tripoint Contest at the Intuit Dome, Los Angeles. He emerged as champion for the third time, after previously also winning in the 2023 and 2024 editions.
