Novak Djokovic Reveals What Michael Jordan Once Said

Ligaolahraga.com –

Tennis News: Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic is not only one of the greatest tennis players of all time, but also one of the best athletes ever.

Apart from that, the fame of the former world number 1 tennis player that goes beyond the world of tennis further confirms this, with the reach of his influence extending to the world of football, basketball, boxing and other fields.

The 39-year-old tennis player has so dominated the top of his world and remained culturally relevant for more than two decades, that it is impossible not to appreciate all his achievements, both those he has achieved and those he continues to achieve. But his humility is also a commendable trait, especially considering how he handles such widespread fame.

The Serbian tennis player’s ability to recognize the greatness of other champions and take inspiration from them is one of the benefits of this humility. Basketball icon, Michael Jordan is just one of the many big stars who have had an influence on the tennis star’s career.

While talking with journalist Jon Wertheim for Tennis Channel, he was asked about Jordan, considering that he had collaborated with Jason Hehir — the director behind the famous documentary The Last Dance — to work on his own version of a similar project.

Calling Jordan one of his ‘sporting icons’, Djokovic highlighted one mindset they shared, “There was one thing that was really interesting to me and felt so relevant. He said, even though the whole crowd in the arena was chanting his name and supporting him, he would look for the one person in the stands who was against him because that would fuel his fire. That reminds me of my own story!”

“You have to really focus and get into killer instinct mode, where nothing else matters but winning that fight.”

Jordan is just the tip of the iceberg of the Serbian’s long-standing love of basketball. However, having grown up in Serbia — a country known as a world basketball powerhouse — he cultivated that love from an early age. As he got older and his reputation grew, he was often seen performing with the biggest stars in the world of basketball.

The Serbian tennis player had a close relationship with Kobe Bryant before the legend died suddenly in 2020 and in recent years, he has also been seen with other big stars such as Stephen Curry and LeBron James.

Thanks to Djokovic’s relationships with various other world superstars — such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Tom Brady — it’s clear that the tennis phenom is enthusiastic about exploring other sports to learn valuable lessons that can be applied to his own career.
